Two garments with identical front rise can fit completely differently, because the working measurement is the front-to-back relationship: the back rise runs 2–4 cm longer to cover the body in hinge movements (squats, cycling position). Too little difference = the waistband pulls down in motion; too much = fabric pooling at the back waist.

Most “these dig in” and “these slide down” reviews are rise geometry, not waistband elastics. A rise curve that matches the body’s hinge points distributes pressure along the whole band; a wrong curve concentrates it at the front edge (digging) or lets the band ride the hip slope (sliding).
